Adding to the Bible,
This review is from: The Everyday Life Bible: Containing the Amplified Old Testament and the Amplified New Testament (Hardcover)
It is incredibly depressing that yet another attempt to exploit the 'Christian' market is welcomed by so many Christians. Are we so sad in this country that we need Joyce Meyer to rewrite the Bible before it makes sense to us? Why would anyone need to read about Joyce's personal experiences in order to understand the Bible? In reality this book is saying that the Holy Spirit did not do a good enough job in inspiring the Scriptures and we need Joyce (and/or her advisers) to come along and give us a Bible that we can understand. As a edition to the Joyce Meyer publishing industry this will undoubtedly work. With its health and wealth me-centred distortion of the Bible it will not be a help to the Church or the Gospel of Jesus. And does the Bible itself not warn us about adding to or taking away from the Word of God? Stick with the real deal - Jesus Christ and His word, not Joyce Meyer and her reedited version.

And obviously you know how God works right?
He's spoken to you to tell you Joyce Meyer is bad, bad, bad?!
So would you have had a go at the apostle Paul for giving clarification on the old testament, and because of our misinterpritation of the bible over generations it has had to come to the point that God has to use his people to interpret his word for us. Stop having such a religious mindset and thinking you know everything about God.

Joyce Myers has changed more lives and brought more people to the Lord than most, she has a special God given gift of opening up the word with life experiences that most people can relate to in their everyday life. Wish i had the knowledge and understanding of the Joyce Meyers of this world.

Yes, you are absolutely right. He should stop being negative and admit Joyce's gift to reach people's life.

I'm not condoning the 'attitude' of the original post, but I will comment on one thing. I do try and steer away from Bibles now that have notes or guides, because over the years I've found they are not that helpful. Or I feel I'm being guided into only seeing one facet of a verse that probably has many more. I hope I'm making sense.

Firstly I must point out that Joyce Meyer is NOT re-writing the Bible. She has merely included helpful notes and life points in order to help those who may be struggling to understand the Bible. Joyce Meyer is not saying that the Holy Spirit did not do "a good enough job in inspiring the Scriptures". Far from it!!! I believe she truly loves God more than anyone or anything and is well known for her powerful and practical God-centred preaching. I also truly believe that many have been converted through her preaching and practical common sense. Furthermore, many Christians have been inspired to live for truly for God and be led by the Holy Spirit hour by hour. I myself am one of them!!

I think Jesus would be concerned with whether Joyce Meyer was turning people away from God or towards God with her Ministry and her publications. I think the majority of people who listen to her or use her Ministries products have become more and not less Christ like.
