Tedious story of Fascinating lives,
This review is from: The Lunar Men: The Friends Who Made the Future 1730-1810 (Paperback)
The Lunar Society included some of the most significant and interesting characters in British history, and their activities changed Britain and the rest of the world to an extent that could not have been imagined at the time. Although thin on science, Jenny Uglow has produced a social history telling everything you could wish to know about the lives of the key characters, and much, much more. She is easily sidetracked from her main theme and includes lashings of irrelevant trivia. If the book were half as long, it would be twice as good, but as it is she has made a potentially gripping story almost unreadable.
