Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Count Duckula - The Complete Collection [DVD] (DVD)
I purchased this DVD for my Grandson Jack for Christmas. Count Duckula is one of his favorite DVDs. He loved them so much when he watched them with his Grandfather, I wanted to buy him is own copy of the DVDs. I had no luck finding the DVDs on AMAZON in the US so I went to AMAZON in the UK and found the complete box set. It said the DVDs were universal and could be played in all regions. This was not true. The DVDs could not be played in our region. Jack was VERY disappointed and I had to return the DVDs. I think the description of this product should be changed to NOT include ALL regions.

Actually it says All Regions, Pal. Is your TV system multi-colour (PAL as well as NTSC), or do you just have the U.S. NTSC colour system? If so, that's why the disks won't play on your system; your TV must be able to play PAL colour system DVDs. Regards, Phil.

Philip, Thank you very much for your reply to my recent post. We do just have the U.S. NTSC Color sysytem so that is why we could not view Count Duckula - The Complete Collection. I did not understand the description. When it said ALL regions I assumed we could view it in the U.S. And, wnen I read "universal" I thought that was referring to where it could be played... after re-reading the description, I see that "universal" meant it was rated for viewing to all... not that it could be played in all areas. Again, thanks for your clarification. Rebecca Yager Covino

Rebecca,

I am a British expat and I watch a lot of UK Region 2 PAL dvds in the USA. I purchased a Phillips DVP5992 DVD player on ebay quite cheap and it is capable of playing any region and any color system. I use it all the time to play my British DVDs on my American TV.

I hope this helps!
