Dreams of an African sky,
This review is from: Reflection Eternal [Train Of Thought] (Audio CD)
this album evokes warm memories. the summer of 2002. I was travelling around Morocco. One rainy night on the road I popped in a tape a friend had made for me and pressed play. The track "Africa Dream" came on. I was blown away. I had honestly never heard a hiphop track produced/sound like that. There and then I understood the feeling Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek were trying to evoke. I hit the RW<<DD button like 8 straight times. even the hiphop rusties i was travelling with got caught up. that night they experienced another side of hiphop they never knew existed. suffice to say I had to leave the tape behind. best holiday i'd ever had.
Got back to London a started digging completely for anything these guys had recorded. The few times I have reached this level of listening pleasure have been listening to the tribe's midnight marauder album, the illmatic joint, outkast's aquemini,... *sigh* why cant most hiphop be like this.
talib you've still got it in you to drop another
