Great new edition,
This review is from: Hear That Lonesome Whistle Blow (Paperback)Hear that lonesome whistle blow is a great read for anyone who is interested in the history of the west or railroads. The book is about the building of the transcontinental railroad across the USA and includes accurate accounts of everything from the hardships of those immigrants who built the railroad to the luxury of those lucky enough to travel in a luxury Pullman Hotel Car.
This new edition of hear that lonesome whistle blow is not that much different from the original edition I don't normal read two editions of a book but a friend bought me this edition for a present and I could hardly ask him to take it back so I read it. There are a few new facts and lines of thought in this edition but the main new feature is some really nice art work and a nice new cover as far a recommending an edition I'd say buy this one if only on a cosmetic whim there is not enough difference to go into.
I would describe hear that lonesome whistle blow as an adventure across the Wild West of America raped with all the scandal of the land grants and bent congressmen, the robbing of the Indian lands and reservations Dee Brown also eludes to the fact that congress in now less corrupt than it was back then this is fascinating compared to what the media say. This book is well written and very readable with many entertaining episodes of poetic justice for those bad men who ripped of the United States people and there government whilst manipulating stocks and dealing with the other near villains who operated roads such as the Union Pacific and Santa Fe.
