Make sure you know who the publisher is,
This review is from: Sock Innovation: Knitting Techniques & Patterns for One-of-a-Kind Socks: Knitting Techniques and Patterns for One-of-a Kind Socks (Paperback)
...because you're going to need to be very familiar with their website as you look up the nine pages of corrections ! I wish I'd known this before buying this book. I love Cookie A's designs, I think she's a genius but my goodness, how did so many errors get through ? The complexity of some of her designs means that it's very difficult to see where the mistakes occur beforehand. Which means, you could be halfway through a sock and suddenly realise your stitch count is off. And worse, you might assume it's your fault !
This would be an easy five out of five for the book - there are brilliant patterns AND tons of information on how to design/adapt your own socks. However, with so many errors, I don't have much confidence in setting out making anything until I've checked that others have completed a pattern first, and spotted the errors for me. A real pity - let's hope there's a second/revised edition soon.

I love crochet says:
The copy of this book that I bought in Dec 2009 had all errata corrected, that is I have a book with no printed errors! As most/all others I love her designs and the worry raised in the above review is no longer applicable and the book gets the 5 of 5 star rating suggested in it!
