Above & Beyond at their VERY best.,
This review is from: Anjunabeats Vol. 5 (Audio CD)
Make no mistake this is without a doubt one of, if not, THE greatest trance compilation EVER made. Ive personally been listening to trance music for over ten years and still to this day I cannot stop coming back to this masterpiece, by those London based Anjunabeats boys Above & Beyond.
Even four years after its release it can rock any house party to its foundations!
CD1 is a little Progressive for me initially, however with the likes of "Needs To Feel" (Super8 & Tab), "Buzz" (Tranquility Base), "Tomahawk" (Oliver Smith), it also contains some absolute Anjunabeats classics.
CD2 however is where for me, the real action is at. Right from the opening tracks of "Shapes" (Maor Levi) and "Megashira" (Marc Marberg with Kyau & Albert) this compilation sends you on a roller-coaster ride of a journey of pure uplifting brilliant trance from start to finish. For me EVERY track on CD2 with the exception of "Razorfish"(Tranqulity Base) is a 5/5 tune. A number of other Anjunabeats artists also contribute with the likes of "Make Me Believe" (Daniel Kandi), "Suru" (Super8 & Tab) and the quite beautiful "Nimbus" (Oliver Smith) also adding to what can only be described as 100% perfect Trance music. It can really only be appreciated once listened to from start to finish.
This along with Anjunabeats Volume 4 (ANJUNABEATS VOLUME 4 and TRI STATE) is what got me fully into the Anjunbeats sound. Im not particularly a huge fan of their newer material on Group Therapy as for me, they have tended to rely on vocalists Richard Bedford and Zoe Johnston a little too much as well as pushing their Anjunadeep progressive style. However this, put quite simply is an ESSENTIAL buy for any dance (and in particular Trance music fan).
I suppose every band/ dj/ artist in the world has to evolve, but PLEASE Above & Beyond mix another album like this.
BUY IT !
