This review is from: The Magpies: A Psychological Thriller (Kindle Edition)
I've had bad neighbours in the past; noisy, selfish, unreasonable people, partying until 4am on a school night, turning the music up rather than down, parking cars across the drive deliberately and only moving them when you get close to the edge. I've had to call the police out on a number of occasions and once this ended up with their arrest. Now I have great neighbours, quiet as mice, respectful, good people. Yet I know what it's like to feel stressed in your own home, to want to leave and live in a field, to avoid coming home to the one place that ought to be a sanctuary.
The Magpies captures the sorts of experiences that many people are unfortunate enough to have, and compounds into in a heady mix of fear, tension, drama and emotion. It demonstrates the darker side of the human species, whilst also showing how difficult it can be for anyone to cope under those sorts of circumstances, and how lives can crumble due to others thoughtlessness, or in this case, outright evil.
Page by page, it pulls you forwards, longing for revenge and a happy ending, it thrills, teases and ultimately begs one question over and over...what WOULD you do?
