Good general reading with well thought out pictures,

This review is from: Late Roman Infantryman, 236-565 AD (Warrior) (Paperback)
The trouble with the Osprey series was that they were always very general and the colour plates tended to employ a bit of artistic license. I was pleased to find that neither this book and it's two companion ones (the Roman Cavalryman and the Germanic warrior) suffer from this.
As a late roman re-enactor, in a Society that prides itself on getting it's facts and equipment correct, we recommend these titles to all our new members. They are good basic reading and present an intelligent rendering of all the facts into the colour plates
