Visual spectacle meets vacuous dialogue. It's what Hollywood does best!,
This review is from: Gravity [DVD] (DVD)
Why spend four years crafting a visually engaging motion picture, and then populate it with dialogue aimed at 4-year olds and delivered by two characters who would struggle to comprehend the mechanics of a milk-float?! They say when you go to the movies one should suspend disbelief. No problem. But I resent also having to turn off my brain and for my intelligence to be insulted in the process. Why are more and more big subjects in the movies (space, slavery etc.) repeatedly treated as trivial? If you kill dialogue, you kill thought. If you kill thought, then we just become mindless consumers of colourful imagery, afraid of anything resembling content. Like little children marvelling at a kaleidoscope.
