This review is from: 1066: A New History of the Norman Conquest (Kindle Edition)
Another highly detailed account from Peter Rex. This work must have involved a great deal of research yet it is presented in such a way as to bring the 11th century to life. The stark details of written accounts and records are interpreted in realistic, human terms. Peter Rex maintains the pro-English, anti-Norman stance that he has held in previous books but this is not really a biased account, more of a realistic view of the impact of the Norman conquest on the people of england. If this was eevidence presented in a court of law, William would be found guilty. A thoroughly excellent book.
