Strong first solo album from the most popular Beatle.,
This review is from: Mccartney (Audio CD)
Paul McCartney's eponymous solo debut LP from 1970 is a very strong album with some much-overlooked songs, most notably the ballad "Teddy Boy," the wistfully melodic "Junk" and "Every Night." Of course, there's the classic "Maybe I'm Amazed," up there with anything Paul did with the Beatles. The material is divided between run-of-the-mill and classic, but the album is worth it for the hits. By anyone else's standards, the LP would be masterful - for McCartney, it's good, upright and pleasant. Probably not for the average Beatles fan, but impressive and most people will like it. It should be noted that Paul plays all his own instruments on this record and has no other help - bar new bride Linda, who adds some harmonies.
