3.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Guitarist, very average writer, 2 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Commando: The Autobiography of Johnny Ramone (Hardcover)
I consider The Ramones one of the greatest bands ever, Johnny, as a guitarist, up there with the best but as an author......
Dee Dee,s book, Poison Heart is much the better of the two written by band members, having said that the best of the bunch is "I slept with Joey Ramone" written by Joey's brother who was also part of the bands road crew. Easier still would just be to buy "Please Kill Me" by Legs McNiell, Punk magazine founder and right where the action was in early 1970's Noo York.

I completely agree with your opinions on the books mentioned. I've read loads of biographies on bands featured in 'Please Kill Me' that have been such a let down compared to Legs' book. The exception to this is 'Man Enough To Be A Woman' by Jayne County which is brilliant, Richard Hell's 'I Dreamed I was A Very Clean Tramp' also has its moments. Vera Ramone's book was utterly dreadful, I'm hoping Marky's will be good but they keep putting the release date back. You're obviously a huge Ramones fan and probably know the film 'Hey is Dee Dee Home', if you don't check it out on You Tube.
