Amazing, but to short.,
This review is from: Star Fox Assault (GameCube) (Video Game)
Amazing. As expected in a Nintendo game, the graphics are spot on and are possibly the best yet. Everything from the laser battles to the planets look stunning and it all runs so smoothly.
The sounds were well done in this game. There is a really good choice of music and the guns sound so cool. The only thing that lets it down is that some of the voice samples are a bit poor. Not really a major problem though.
Fantastic. The levels involve either being on foot, on the ground in a tank-like vehicle or flying round the planet in an arwing and it's usually a mix of at least two. You play through ten missions following a storyline fighting enemies and blowing things up. Overall, the gameplay is extremely fun.
It's got a decent storyline containing quite a few twists along the way (which I won't spoil for you). The main idea of the game is that Starfox must destroy these new machine enemies who are very similar to the replicators in the Stargate series.
In this mode you can play with up four players across a wide variety of maps and with a good selection of weapons, vehicles and rules. Will rock on for ages.
This is the only place that the game falls down on. With only ten missions you can finish it within a couple of hours of playtime. The multiplayer will keep you hooked for quite a while though if you've got some mates willing to play.
While the gameplay and graphics are simply top class, with only ten missions, you'll finish it within a day most likely. The multiplayer mode is good and is quite fun, but this too loses it's charm after a while. Overall I would recommend it, but hardcore fans of the series will no doubt still prefer Lylat Wars.
