Disappointing - weak wifi, bad ethernet support and crashes daily,
I bought this as an replacement to an old ADSL2 modem router hoping the 2+ would get better a faster internet connection and because it supported 1Gb/s wired connections. The internet connection is marginally faster but everything else is a disaster.
Firtsly, the WIFI connection, despite having an ugly hedgehog array of antennas is extremely weak. Whereas our old router (with a single, tiny antenna) would get a useful signal throughout the house and into the back garden, this one will not give a reliable signal in some of our rooms. Using a wifi monitorng tool shows our neighbours' boxes have a stronger signal that this provides.
Secondly, it's supposed to support a 1Gb/s wired connection. I have not had any luck even using cables that, at work, function at that speed. Worse, it wouldn;t even connect to an older computer that only supported 100Mb/s - I had to manually set that computer to 10Mb/s before it worked at all. (Suffice to say, the older box worked fine).
Finally, and most damning, it regularly crashes. You can be connected and, then, for no apparent reason, the connection dies. If you eventually connect to the devices set up page, you will find that the system uptime of only a few minutes. I don;t think I've seen an uptime of more than 12 hrs. Frankly this is getting worse and we've only had it for around 6 months.
In summary "avoid".
