Great tablet - lovely size.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: TABTRONICS MINI PAD 7.85" QUAD CORE IPS TOUCH SCREEN 1GB RAM / 8GB STORAGE ANDROID 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Tablet PC - DUAL CAMERAS HDMI
This is my second Jellybean tablet and I am very impressed by this one after a weeks use.
The 7.85 inch screen size feels so much bigger than the 7 inch tablets due to the aspect ratio.
The screen is lovely - as good as the ipad mini and same resolution, the quad core makes it run smooth. No problems with signal strength and the battery seems fine - have managed to play games, watch films and edit photos in one session. Skype and iplayer work very well.
The firmware is great and all in English - comes with google play fully installed.
Item is well made, nice aluminium back with tabtronics brand name printed on it.
Ipad Mini accessories fit this item (except cases hide rear camera).
I have added some screenshots of benchmark tests and full product details under the product images. Hope these help give more detailed specs etc. Seem impressive to me.
I paid the promotional price of £79.99 but would still recommend at the new price of £94.99.

many thanks for the screenies and review...(presume you are still happy with the product as there are no edits on your initial comment?)
just a quick Q tho pls. did it have google play installed on the unit? i have just bought it but, didn't think to check that beforehand!
ps: i'm a technophobe so forgive my Q if it's a little (a LOT) on the dumb side!

I yes still very happy with it. Very good value for price and great for using internet, watching videos, playing games and editing photos. Seems to be kid proof too....!
Yes google play was installed and everything fully English - just turn on and go. It even came fully charged.
Hope you enjoy yours.

Battery seems to last fine - kids have watched Toy Story and still plenty of life left in battery. It does seem to take a while to charge but I understand this is quite normal when charging via USB.

that's lovely! thank you very much for the reply :)
final question (if you find the time to reply) - do you notice much lag or any freezing? i'm new to tablets ya see, hence my questions (so appreciate your patience)
just wondering whether i did the right thing going for 1GB RAM, as opposed to 2. for the price (and going by the very helpful reviews here) it does sound like it's a pretty good buy but, i was on the brink of either trying the Ainol (changed my mind in case there were unit issues and i had to post to china) versus the nexus 7.
nexus is still the winner but 7 inches is too small for reading/my purposes, and the 10.1 too large. another thing that swung it for me was your comment regards the real estate feeling that much larger due to that extra (near) inch.
*think next stop will be a 9 inch*

Hi Lee, I have not really noticed any lag or freezing I think the fact it is a newer quad core rather than a dual core helps with this, but I guess if money would stretch then a 2gb is always better. I too have always been tempted by a nexus 7 but the screens always feel a little small and the price a little high. I also looked into the Ployer Momo Mini from UK sellers and although the spec was marginally better the price was much higher.
As for readying the magazines from the play store are lovely on this device.
I also have a Nook HD+ which is a 9" running android via a SD card. The nook is heavier and occasionally lags but this is as wide as the the 9.7 devices but not as high.
Anyway I hope you are happy with it.

i note that you have amended your initial review and included stuff we've been talking about - i'll also be along to add to the reviews bit once i take delivery and have had a play - just to add...many, MANY thanks for all your patience with my Qs - as your review reflects, it's been very informative.
hopefully a happy (albeit technophobic) woman will be back and waxing lyrical like a pro, very soon!

Is the screen glass or plastic?

I would say it is glass but I am not sure I would know the difference between glass and plastic.
