5 stars for the book, 1 for the dreadful CD!,
This review is from: Practical Everyday English with CD: A Self-study Method of Spoken English for Upper Intermediate and Advanced Students (Paperback)
I've been teaching ESOL for a few years so have pretty good experience of the good, bad and ugly when it comes to books. This is a great idea as it really does provide colloquial phrases and would be perfect for home study, unlike so many others which are purely for groups and involve buying a series of three books and an extortionately-priced CD. However, I have huge issue with the appalling quality of the audio. It's not even recorded in a proper sound booth as you can clearly heard lots of background noise and there is NO way that the speakers are qualified actors or voiceover artists as the horrendously flat and lifeless dialogue proves. If you're a student, I don't think you'd notice how bad it is, but for teachers it's almost unbearably cringey. Good book, though.
