Wonderful mix of Classic and New Who,
This review is from: Doctor Who: The Tardis Handbook (Hardcover)
Many recent books on The Doctor have focused solely on the New Series with out much thought to the history or the timeline from the Classic Who (as it seems to have been dubbed by the BBC). The TARDIS Handbook achieves a marvellous mix between the two "series" with a number of excellent images of Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee and their companions (or assistants as they were then known). There is a wealth of useful and ultimately useless information crammed into the small pocketbook size publication - but it all makes for a good browse rather than an in depth read. The evolution of the police box is a nice touch as is the similar evolution of the Doctor's time machine (but that is a given taking the book's title into consideration). My one gripe is the small section "Hold That One Down" that is printed double column in very small print on lilac grey paper rendering it almost unreadbale to these eyes (a fatal flaw in any book). Overall the book deserves four stars and is good value for money.
