1.0 out of 5 stars Sound dropping out on bluray, 18 Feb. 2011
By
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Alien Anthology [Blu-ray] [1979] [6 Disc Set] (Blu-ray)
Just watched Alien - sound would drop out for 3 seconds every couple of minutes. It's a brand new bluray player and other discs have been playing fine. Will have to see if Amazon will swap it over since the disc is faulty

I watched my BD of Alien last night and the sound was absolutely perfect. As the other forumist suggests, the problem is more likely to be with your blu-ray player's firmware.

Its probably your HDMI cable, I had one that didnt have good enough shielding and the sound dropped out for a second every couple of minutes. Its a possibilty anyway, I dont know anything about this firmware stuff but I'll be royally pissed off if my little blu ray player doesnt play every blu ray I present it with, although its had no problem with films like the Dark Knight on blu ray and that has IMAX sequences so 'd imagine that that would be a good test pherhaps.

God knows what you're playing this on, I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with the sound on this disc. The problem sounds like it's with the player to me, update your firmware...are you playing through an av setup? If so check your connections (speakers, inputs) I play this on a Sony BD Player through a Sony Surround AV Amp...No trouble at all, absolutely sparkling sound
