Halfway through, I was expecting to give this a much higher review. I was thinking Stephen King-esque, interesting horror, interesting characters, decent back story. It was all going so well.
Ultimately it fell down at the climax - the constant flashbacks were increasingly difficult to follow, and the ending let everything down, leaving too many loose ends (helpfully teeing up the sequel for the author).
The barmaid character was utterly redundant, and was a real let down given the rest of the cast. So near, yet so far
