my no 1 picks,
This review is from: 6 x ASSORTED JIM DUNLOP TECKPICKS METAL PLECTRUMS PICKS (Electronics)
these are amazing, it is worth the mentioned metal wear.
I find the standard aluminum ones ones to wear the quickest but they are lightest, the textured one can be a bit hit and miss because when it wears the textured pits can catch the strings, i find the normal ones wear to a knife edge though which is good for playing.
The brass wears slower but is heavier and thicker, as such I find it perfect for my acoustic, it's a bit slower but hits the strings harder as is needed to get the extra volume you need to wack an acoustic with.
so yes these do wear, and they gash the strings to, but it's not really a problem (doesn't affect the tones of the strings) and am one of these people who plays far too many hours, it's worth it because it's one of the few materials that can be both light (in the case of aluminum), razor thin, and completely rigid (un-bendable), which I find makes it easier for hitting harmonics.
Granted some people I'd say might not like them, they have a lovely jangly sound that is quite toppy of course, similar to playing with a coin, sometimes you might want a quieter more muted sound from a plastic pick. Also if your strumming technique is heavy (the brass pick is heavy, you may find yourself getting caught in the strings and it might take a bit of adjusting to a lighter strum (plastic picks bend here)
I really think these add something interesting, 5 stars
