Barista Coffee Tamper,
This review is from: Professional Barista Coffee Tamper (57mm) (Kitchen & Home)
I thought this would be a good idea, look smart in the kitchen. The Coffee Tamper arrived in good time but looked distinctly second hand with scratches and marks thereon.
I 'phoned the supplier who assured me it wasn't second hand and promptly arranged to deliver a new one and collect the old. Full marks there then, but it was only by pure chance that I was in when the replacement was delivered and the 'old' one collected ... NOT on the date arranged!
The replacement wan't much better than the first coffee tamper, with marks and scratches thereon. If I had checked it before the delivery man left I would have sent it back with him.
As a coffee tamper, for my Gaggia Classic coffee machine it just doesn't do it. The tamper at 57mm tamps down to the ledge of the coffee holder and meets metal before it starts to tamp down the coffee, so I'm now back to the plastic tamper supplied by Gaggia with the machine, which is 38mm and ideal.
The Professional Barista Coffee Tamper has turned out to be a very expensive paper weight!

Brother John says:
I'm looking for a coffee tamper and I've half a mind to buy this one just so I can give it 5* in order to counterbalance the fickle and pointless 1* you gave it because a) you didn't like the look of it, b) it was only by chance that you were in when the replacement was delivered, and c) because you didn't bother to read the part of the amazon entry that says 'Coffee Tamper *(57mm)*'.
You have not written a review of the item, you have merely droned on at length about how generally dissatisfied you are. If you bought it in the first place because you believed it would 'look smart in the kitchen' then why didn't you just buy some flowers or polish your toaster instead?
