1.0 out of 5 stars It Upsets Me To Hear Such Bad Mixes, 29 Oct 2013
This review is from: Love To Love You Donna (Audio CD)
Firstly I don't think classic Donna songs need to be remixed even to attract a younger or new fanbase. They are and will always be fantastic in their original form. However if they have to be remixed then there is only handful of people worthy-Giorgio of course,Moto Blanco,Calvin Harris,Ralphi Rosario,Dave Aude,7th Heaven,Wideboys,Cahill. These are all current mixers who would have done a much better job.
The only songs I can bear to listen to you is Love To Love You Baby remixed by Giorgio and Love Is In Control by Chrome and Oliver which I didn't like to begin with but it has grown on me.I really hope the other songs grow on me but some are so bad, they actually ruin the original,Dim All The Lights and On The Radio and don't start me on Working The Midnight Shift!
Even the new unreleased La Dolce is below par and sounds like a song that didn't make the Crayons cd,but I am so grateful to hear something new although it has taken ages to get this song for various reasons.
What us Donna fans need is all her albums remastered digitally and to include songs which never made the final cut.We also need the Live and More concert from 1978 available on bluray/dvd.
Having seen Donna so many times live and to meet her twice, there isn't a day I don't think of this lady.
Her music has played a very important part of my life and that is why I am so upset to hear these classics being remixed like this.

Well said...this abomination should never have been released;especially when you consider the state of the great lady's studio albums, that all need to be remastered with bonus tracks and contempory remixes.

Sorry but your otherwise good review is totally marred by the inclusion of those names of current djs. Those are alone YOUR personal choice, just like it was the project owners' choice to commission these djs to remix it. I personally don't care for anything my Moto Blanco, think Calvin Harris is totally overrated and can't listen to anything he's done, and the likes. You know the only people who should be allowed to lay hands on this stuff? Tom Moulton and Giorgio Moroder. Nobody else. And that is not personal choice.

Totally agree with you regarding Donna's back-catalogue, something along the lines of the Japanese SHM CD re-masters or the HDtracks re-masters on CD would be excellent; plus the release of ALL the vaulted material too - we can only live in hope :) Also agree about her concerts on Blu-ray, not only Live & More but also A Hot Summer Night and Live & More Encore plus anything else I may have forgotten, like VH1 Divas 2000.
As for this remix CD, mine arrived today but I'm really not sure about it! Guess I'm not into EDM! Thank God for the originals is all I can say as nothing is ever going to come close to these future standards :) What an incredibly talented Lady she was!!

The list of Djs you mention is shockingly bad. Thankfully the compilation is geared to those with more discerning dance music tastes.
I've only heard the Hot Chip mix which is rather excellent, looking forward to hearing the rest as the DJ line up is rather special.

Tom Moulton would be excellent but is he still remixing?

Yes, Tom Moulton is going strong and still doing a fantastic job, check out his Philly Regrooved series made over the past couple of years. He extends the original tracks and keeps them exactly the way the original producers and artists intended. Philly Re-Grooved 3: The Tom Moulton Remixes
