I think it may have helped if I had known a bit about Malachi O'Doherty before I read this book however I received this as a gift in a selection from the publisher and thought that the book was interesting. It is well written and very humorous in parts and at another time graphically describes an accident that caused the death of a cyclist. The book title is slightly misleading as it deals not only with the fact that he starts riding a bike again at the age of 60 after having been diagnosed as having diabetes and wishes to get fit again, but his whole relationship with bicycles from his earliest recollections up to the present day. There are tantalising glimpses of the author's life away from bicycles but I am not sure that a whole 176 page book devoted to his relationship with bicycles is enough for me.

Mr. Malachi O'Doherty says:
Thanks for the review. I have other memoir books published and didn't want to overlap more than a little with the content in them, but I hadn't considered that that would leave this book looking deficient. I'll be interested to see if others make the same point.
