This review is from: Stone's Fall (Paperback)
I had never read Iain Pears before, but I will certainly be reading him again. This atmospheric and beautifully written book takes you backwards in John Stone's life, from London to Paris to Venice. John Stone has died at the beginning of the book and the story takes you back, explaining why this happened and what happened to him. If I got to the end and thought it was a little unbelievable, I forgave him for his wonderful writing style, great characters and descriptive prose. It was a beautiful book. Would be ideal to wallow in during a long winter's evening. Now, where did that copy of "Instance of the Fingerpost" go?
