Simply the best wine bible around,
This review is from: The World Atlas of Wine, 7th Edition (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I've had a previous version of this, so was delighted to find a revised edition.
Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson are two of the best and most respected wine critics in the world.
The book starts with a history of wine making and drinking and information about grapes, terroirs, how wine is made and stored and how to taste it and enjoy it.
There are then sections on every wine growing country of the world - the old world - France, Italy, Germany, Spain, etc - and the new world - the Americas, Australia, etc. Within each country there is a wealth of information about the regional variations. All of this is interesting and informative, and serves to add to the pleasure of sampling the wines.
This would make a splendid gift for anyone who is interested in wines, and in exploring and learning more about drinking and understanding them.
