One of their very best,
This review is from: Wishbone Ash (Audio CD)
Their eponymous debut and musically still pretty fresh, even though the recording itself sounds a bit aged after all these years and the vocals are weak. The classic of the set is Handy to open S.2, with that great drum solo, though overall it's a good coherent album from the word go and one can hear just why it put them straight on the map. Many fans will consider that Argus was their absolute best, though for my money this one still runs it very close.
Oh yes, though rarely seen, for reasons unknown, it really is worth insisting on nothing less than the digitally remastered edition (on BGO Records), particularly in view of the vintage of this recording, the quality of which, it has to be said, was never outstanding even in its heyday. With the benefits of good remastering, it comes up a lot better.
