The greatest work of literature in the last 50 years,

This review is from: Gravity's Rainbow (Paperback)
This book is brilliant. Drawing on mysticism, Pavlovian science, among many, many other things, this book is as rich and insightful as any novel ever written. It is extremely tough reading, however. The shifts in tone, the shifts in time, the reality and dream sequences--all of these are quite puzzling during an initial reading of the book. I had to read the first 100 pages several times before I felt comfortable continuing. The novel is really dense and complex, but it has been well planned. If you want to read a book that will give you a true reading experience, this is it. But like all great things in life, you must work at it. You probably will not be able to understand the book the first time through. Read it and reread it (you will likely find yourself reading passages out loud, even if there is no one around)--soon it will become an important part of your life, along with other classic novels. It will be a book that you will want to study, discuss, and ultimately die with. Invest in your mind and spirit--buy this book.
