I love this... We've waited a long time, and it's worth it!
These days I'm more used to pick and mixing tracks from spotify or itunes, and rarely need more than two or three from each artist. Rae and Christian have kindly done that for me, by working with a great mix of new and established talent (Mark Foster from Foster the People, Jake Emlyn, Mystro, Ed Harcourt, Gita Langley and the wonderful Kate Rogers). There's also a mix of musical styles, some of which evoke the old Rae and Christian Northern Sulphuric Soul memories, and some which move in an entirely different direction. They're all held together by a thread of musicality and quality, however.
It's more than 10 years since the last album, so I'm OK with a change of direction, and most of these are growers. Kate Rogers Still Life Freefall is a personal favourite and Happy with Mark Foster is an immediate winner too.
