Right, well this review will compare it to the second game of the franchise, and also other modern shooters.
To begin with, weaponry and linearness. Each level is VERY go from point A to point B, shoot X bad guys on the way there, there is NO exploring, unlike the second one there are no "hidden" symbols to shoot, or packages to pick up, each level is essentially a mad sprint towards the next fire fight.
Which bleeds nicely into weaponry, there are very few different weapons in each level, you usually start with the standard assault rifle, using the silenced pistol for a few levels, but as with no secrets there are no "hidden weaponry", just a few scattered gun racks, and in 90% of cases you will simply be using the very limited unique weaponry (which admittedly is amusing). ammo crates are numerous so you are unlikely to need to change loadouts.
Shooting mechanics and AI. your AI pretty much suck tbh, your "team mate" will yell at you for taking more than a few seconds to complete an objective, in some cases when you sprint down to grab some ammo he could yell at you 9 times before you get back to him, this is VERY annoying and there is no way to turn it off. And whilst the enmy AI is decent your friendlies will be of almost no use whatsoever, either walking into the line of fire, or simply not doing any damage. I had to do one section about 15 times due to the game throwing a big wave of enemies my way and a handful of friendlies, in short they killed no one, and simply ran in my way.
Vehicle Combat. every few chapters it forces in a very shoddy on rails shooter section, either giving you horrifically limited control over movement, or just a turret. These sections were tedious, boring and on harder difficulties far too quick to kill you with enemies you couldnt physically see let alone aim at, it felt really out of place.
Graphix. It looks ok. some levels look PS2.5 qulity but on the whole its not so bad (regularly gets called "The brownest game bar Doom" its not that brown :p).
Story. The story is just...meh. There are times when you will openly notice characters doing very out of place actions and at points it simply doesnt explain where characters pop up from simply appearing infront of you. Theres really nothing special here that hasnt been done before, but there are quite a lot of cutscenes. On that note at some checkpoints it will play a fair length of ingame chat every time you die. In some places this gets VERY annoying.
MP and co-op. Co-op is a joke. offline only ie useless. Splitscreen is what people want, no one wants full online.
MP is...decent,very few people play nowadays so getting a game is rare, even with the mp going pseudo-free.
Now apart from all these flaws its far from the worst game I own, just dont expect a groundbreaking or worthwhile exclusive
