This review is from: More Things in Heaven and Earth: God and the Scientists (Paperback)
This is a very thoughtful reflection by the author, over a lifetime working as a physicist, of the impersonal nature of the scientific method and the effects it has on scientists. Since Christianity is about the relationship of humanity to an infinite-personal God, this has consequences for faith. The author exhibits a deep human warmth, and a profound understanding of the tensions between working as a scientist and living as a faithful human being in a personal relationship with family, friends and colleagues, and, overarching everything, with God.
The text is very rich and requires patient reading and re-reading for full understanding, but the effort is worth it. We could do with more people like A. van den Beukel.
