5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful read, 8 Nov 2013
This review is from: Goliath: Life and Loathing in Greater Israel (Hardcover)
Excellent and well researched read on what I consider to be the most important issue in world affairs today. This book really confronts the systemic discrimination that is inflicted on the Palestinians by Netanyahu and his cronies.

It is great to see books like this enter the public domain, however I find it a pity that only Jewish writers can contribute to the topic as everyone else is branded as anti-Semitic if they dare criticise apartheid Israel.

For anyone that is new to this topic and is looking to read more on this subject, may I suggest the writings of Norman Finklestein, who has written some excellent books.

Shlomo Sand the Israeli professor has also written an excellent book called 'The Invention of the Jewish People'.

Both writers have books right here on Amazon.

Apartheid Israell?hahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahhahahhahahahah

You really don't believe in educating yourself do you. Question. Did men land on the moon, did Jews bring down the twin towers. Do Jews run the world all 17 million of them versus 1.5 billion Muslims 2 billion Christians and a few billion Chinese? Tell us about the genocide in Gaza- you know the territory with the fastest growing population in the planet with the most obese people in the Middle East

The one that shares border with EGYPT also. But only Jews block them in hahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahhahahhahahahah

APARTHEID THY NAME IS PALESTINE

if you say otherwise then PROVE IT. go on. I respectfully challenge you to show that Israel is apartheid and Palestine isn't

I'm waiting....

I don't respond or engage with bigots, especially bigots that trawl sites like Amazon to troll books that dare question Israels Apartheid credentials.
I assure you I am very much educated, so much so that I can spell Israel correctly.

Before you go around trying to intimidate people with your extended hahaha..., may I suggest that you actually read the books that you are trying to discredit.

No sir, you are not educated, you strike me as a narrow minded bigot. After I post this, I shall hit the "Ignore this customer" button, as there is no reasoning with idiots.

I have read many books, from both sides of the conflict. I have arrived at the conclusion that Israel is an apartheid state. Not only does it treat Palestinian people appallingly inside Israels borders, it treats the Palestinian people even worse in the lands that Apartheid Israel has illegally occupied.

Apartheid Israel is guilty of contravening countless UN resolutions, most notably the illegal blockade of Gaza. Apartheid Israel is also guilty of the use of 'White Phosphorous' on Palestinian civilians during the 2008-2009 massacre. White Phosphorous for your information, is a chemical weapon. The Israeli military is guilty of using a chemical weapon on a civilian population. (Ref. bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-22310544)

The Palestinian antisemitic propaganda that you speak of, is often written by Jewish authors, as they seem to be the only people allowed to criticise the nasty and bigoted Israeli Apartheid State.

I have great admiration for Jewish people, however I have little time for Zionist bigots. Some of the finest human beings the world has ever seen were Jewish. I refer you to some of my personal heroes, Noam Chomsky, Norman Finklestein, Greg Palast, Shlomo Sand and of course Max Blumenthal, the author of this fine book.

I would kindly ask that you refrain from trolling books on this subject, especially when I suspect you have not read them. If you are going to be an internet troll, please reference the material contained within these books that you have issue with. If you are as educated as you claim to be, I am sure you will have no issue with this.

Elliot Davis says:
After the Ottoman Empire collapsed, with the Ottomans (Turks) being on the losing side in WW1, the spoils of war ensured that their former empire be split between The British and The French allies. The British got the 'area' know as Palestine to administer. (NB area, NOT country ).

At the San Remo Conference of 1920, who's obligations and resolutions are STILL in place to this very day, it was decided that the land on BOTH SIDES of the Jordan River, would form the Jewish National Home. Britain was mandated to make it so; however in an act of appalling treachery, the then British Government gave 77% of the land east of the Jordan River to the Hashemite Arabs of Arabia, while a mere 23% to the west was left for the Jewish people. 'TransJordan' becoming, in time, Jordan was thus formed out of the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire ( likewise Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iraq).

At least in 1922, the precursor to the UNITED NATIONS known as The League of Nations recognized that ALL THE LAND west of the Jordan River was to be set aside for a "Jewish National Home." This was subsequently affirmed in the Anglo-American Convention on Palestine in 1925 and confirmed in 1945 by article 80 of the UN. Look at any map today; that land includes so-called Palestine- the land claimed by the Palestinians.

The League of Nations even mandated that no "territory shall be ceded or leased to, or in any way placed under the control of, the Government of any foreign Power," ie that the Jewish people would have as their Homeland the land of Israel between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River ( which included The Golan Heights) - thus rejecting any Arab claims to what has since become known as Israel, West Bank and Gaza. Indeed, the Arab people are never even mentioned in the British Mandate and so no amount of latter - day UN resolutions regarding 'Palestine' cancels these fundamental Jewish rights!

Clearly and despite, what you hear in Parliament and in the media, we are all being lied to by today's British Government, the EU, The UN, the United States, not to mention 50+ Muslim / Arab countries throughout the world: the oft - repeated claim that the land is illegally being built on by Israel - and that 'illegal settlers' occupy' - is a piece of arrant nonsense. The land is no more 'Palestinian' than London or Paris or Washington DC, or for that matter Amman or Damascus or Beirut.

two states for two peoples Pally- how reasonable of the Zionists to to give away even more of their Homeland

BIGOTED ARABISTS WHO HAVE COLONISED 99.5% OF THE ME WOULD NEVER DO SUCH A THING they've kicked out the Jews and now Christians are being systematically ethnically cleansed-but you dont care about them do you

In reply to an earlier post on 18 Feb 2014 20:31:30 GMT
Since when was it Britains land to give away in the first place.

A Colonial attitude has not validity in the modern world

Elliot Davis says:
Hahahah do you know ANYTHING about spoils of war. How do you think the Ottomans won it. Oh and BTW are you suggesting we give Israel Palestine Syria Lebanon Iraq Saudi Arabia back to them

NB your Pals have NEVER owned this land (they were invented as a political tool in 1963' prior to 1948 the Jews were called Palestinians)
never in the history of the world The Jew have more rights to it it than ANYONE. 4000yrs worth of rights Pally

How short our memory is, that we will selectively choose to support any invalid arguments to misinform the public (or are we forgetting that 80 years ago is less time than "4000"?). How easy we deal out our insults, and justify our history with supremist ideology (should I repeat myself?). Pals? I assume this means Palestinans. You know, the people who have always lived there, before Moses, and certainly before people who came from Eastern Europe and the U.S.A. since 1948 (sorry we had to "group reference" them due to your arguments)- but wait! Let's make it easy on ourselves, and say the Palestinans were all migrants who came after 1800 (wait again - isn't that before 1948?). OWNED the land, you say? Like the cavemen, Canaanites, Ancient Egyptians, Assyrians, Greeks, Macedonians, Romans, Byzantines, Caliphs, Crusaders, Arabs, Ottomans, British, etc... Spoils of war as a justification?

I am a historian, who knows that the spoils of war almost always lead to the next war. Good luck with your attempts at misinformation and insults. A right to live there? Yes. A right to dictate who can and can not? No.
