Okay, so PES2013 doesn't have the licensed teams or correct players or an easy quick play English league format as with last year's game.
It doesn't matter.
Here's what to do. Go on to Ebay and buy one of the many downloadable patches to get the correct kits, players and teams. Then play the Football Life campaign and enjoy an enriched game with so much more depth than the glossy FIFA alternative. This format allows you to have as many transfers as you like (if any).
Everyone is different and will want different things from the game but if I could have any additional features it would be the following:
1) More International teams and an advanced World Cup Tournament starting from qualifying rounds in the way that the International Challenge from PES6 was or even the FIFA Road to the World Cup 1998 was!
2) Game highlights from other matches in the way the old EA Hockey games for the Mega Drive used to be. This gives the feeling of a tournament feel. I mean, if you are playing in the FA Cup and Brighton have beaten Chelsea 1-0 don't you want to see a highlight of that goal? Surely it is possible now rather than having 25 options for boots or balls....!
3) How about the officials getting a decision wrong? Surely it is possible to put a 1 in 25 chance of getting an offside or foul decision wrong? It would be annoying to be on the receiving end but how much more realistic would it be?
4) Keep the player's form / conditioning even. If I'm playing a weak team in the FA CUP and want to rest my currently in form Star Striker for the weekend fixture against Man U - why does he then appear as out of form /unfit? Playing consectuative games or resting seems to have no bearing on the colour of those little arrows..
So there you have it. With the downloaded patch I think PES 2013 is as close to the best Football experience currently out there. The kids will still go for FIFA in their droves but this is defintely the richer footballing experience.
