This is funny!,
This review is from: A Simples Life: The Life and Times of Aleksandr Orlov (Hardcover)
I read this book when I did Readathon at school. I'm in year 8.
The `Compare the Meerkat' advert with Alekandr Orlov were a big hit. So big, that a book has been made all about the Orlov family. Aleksandr's distant ancestors. This is an enjoyable book that meerkat lovers will especially like.
The story starts with Aleksandr's great, great, great, great Granddad Kefentse. He and his faithful friend travel from a distant land to settle in Russia. The rest of his clan soon follows. Later, his great grandson Vitaly is leading the clan, but the mongoose army, led by `Mongis Kahn' attacks. Luckily, the meerkats win. Vitaly is wounded, but when he is in the hospital, he meets his love Valentine. They soon had 2 children, Ivan and Grigory. They all now live in a mansion, but Ivan gambled it away. Now gypsykats, the Orlovs settle down. Soon, Grigory finds a glamorous gypsykat called Anastasia. Next they have a child, Anton. Anton was a good, clever meerpup and came up with the idea of comparing meerkats for a living. Now the Orlov family live in town. Anton is grown up and falls in love with Valeria, the mayor's daughter. They have a meerpup, Aleksandr (finally!). Sadly, due to Anton's early boxing career, Anton dies. Aleksandr carries on with his business with his new partner Sergei. When they start advertising, disaster happens when they are not asked for meerkats, but for insurance! This is where the adverts we know and love comes in. This is an amazing, funny and interesting book. Definitely recommend!
