britney's singles rock. hit me baby... crazy, born 2 make u happy, oops! stronger, hell even lucky was cool. so if she'd made an album of completely vacuous but utterly brilliant dance pop along those lines this record would be amazing - a modern classic even.
however, ms spears unfortunately seems to think that we want her to sing ballads. WE DON'T! leave it to christina... i'm not saying britney doesn't have the voice for it but what she excels at is songs that make you want to dance. and whilst oops! the album has its fair share of up tempo corkers like dont go knocking on my door, what u c is what u get and lucky, it also has 7 absoluteley horrendous ballads.
now if they were along the lines of born to make u happy or even sometimes they might be bearable. but they are so awful that they could pass for a1 b sides, and the lyrics are so brain numbingly terible that i'm forced to skip them every time they roll around.
britney is generally regarded as one of the biggest stars in the world and rightly so in my opinion. she is gorgeous, a great dancer and a brilliant performer. now she needs to concentrate on making an album that does justice to her reputation and DROPS THE BALLADS!!!!
that said this album does contain some awesome songs (stronger in particular) and in a few years will probably be regarded with the same fondness as madonna's early stuff is now. so if you want great britney songs buy the singles and wait for her to make an album that does her sex kitten persona justice.
