This review is from: Synology Audio Remote Radio Remote Control for NAS Server (Personal Computers)Now if you are into your music and have a nice music setup maybe in the lounge or music room then the synology remote might be for you. Having been really impressed by synology nas boxs I have to say was not that impressd with the remote. The biggest issue with the remote is not being able to see what your playing. The remote work off play lists which means that unless your a iTunes fan or you spend hours creating play list. You will need to set these up for your music. Now with your play lists created your ready to go, just press the button to pick your album. One feature I did like was the random button this allows you to play music from your collection in a random order, great for house parties. Like playing music from your nas the remote also allows the user to play Internet radio even when I set up channels I was still unsure what station I was actually listening to .
The remote is well built and made from good quality plastic and won't look out of place next to your nas box. I did find the 2032 CMOS style battery tricky to fit correctly and this took me a couple of try's to get it right.
The remote receiver needs to be connected to the nas box. With your speakers or sound system connected to the receiver, so these all need to be in the same place.
For my self I found that using the smart phone apps to play your music worked much better. I was able to pick what I wanted to listen to then just plugg my phone into my speakers.
yes the remote works and does what is says on the tin. But maybe this could be improved with maybe a small screen showing you what is being played.
