2.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but as good as a cheap electric razor!, 6 Sept. 2010
This review is from: Philips RQ1280 SensoTouch GyroFlex 3D Rechargeable Rotary Shaver (Personal Care)
I brought this razor as it was supposed to be the best one out there. However after trying it for nearly two weeks, im going to return my to my mach 5 tubro or whatever its called.

The razor feels good to hold, and has a nice rubber coating at the back with a nice display at the front, telling you how long you have left before you need to recharge and if the device needs cleaning and if its locked ( to stop it from turning on in your bag when at airports i guess).
The problem is the head, if you have three 2p coins, put them together, and you're left with a big gap in the middle. So whats cutting your facial hair in that area? nothing is the answer.

When i tried using it as a dry shaver, i found it irritating, it seemed to cut my skin in some areas and felt like i had cut myself shaving with a blade about a million times all over my face.

Wet shaving is better, you simply do all that you do with your normal wet shaver but replace the razor with this.
The problem i found is that in some areas it missed chunks of my facial hair, and some areas it didnt shave close enough.

overall i felt i could have just used my gillette fusion and got the job done with less pain. For some reason you had this sensation of pain and irritation after shaving.

I called philips and they recommended i should return the razor for a refund and choose the kind of razor with a Braun head (two bars).

As Philips customer service said " high price doesnt mean close shave".

I therefore dont recommend

Your wet shaver is only 3cm wide - what's cutting the rest? Nothing: until you move it. It's the same with the electric shaver. Move the shaver in small circles and all the hair disappears^_^

Actually, what type of facial hair (what happened to using the word whiskers?) you have affects which shaver you should use: I tried the King of Shaves Azur and it was totally useless. My facial hair is very soft and all the Azur did was flatten it, not cut it. My 4 year-old phillips is far better, though wet shaving is smoother on my neck. I have problems with every electric shaver irritating my neck, though the philips ones seem to affect it less when wet shaving.
