Fundamental or just plain basic?,
This review is from: The Fundamentals of Fashion Design (Paperback)The book is OK, but it's more like an illustrated glossary - most of the drawings are 'final' rather than 'working' so they don't demonstrate any technique and only teach you what things like stitches are called.
If you have any interest in clothes and fashion but no formal training it probably won't teach you a thing, the content is fairly common sense. It's not detailed enough and is trying to cover too broad a spectrum of topics without any focus or depth.
I would recommend 'couture sewing techniques' as an alternative if you are looking for a more technical book to really learn some new skills.
It seems more like a 'course overview' you might get at the beginning of a college fashion course. To be honest I'm not really sure what this book could help anyone with, other than shelf-filling if you want to seem as though you own lots of fashion books.
