I'm a spy in the house of love.,
This review is from: Morrison Hotel (Audio CD)
Not their best by a long way but it's heading in the right direction after `Waiting for the Sun' and `The Soft Parade' which were both, let's be honest, pretty dreadful. Of course things got even better with `L.A. Woman' but alas that was their final hurrah before Jim took one bath too many.
Best tracks are, of course, `Roadhouse Blues', `Peace Frog/Blue Sunday', `Maggie M'Gill' and `The Spy', which shows Morrison's love of crooning (apparently he was a big fan of Bing Crosby!).
There's some stuff that's not so good though but let's face it no Doors' album was ever going to be perfect.
Love the cover. Morrison Hotel looks like it was probably an interesting place to stay. Bet the bar stayed opened late, but somehow I imagine room-service was a bit hit-and-miss.
