Better than nothing,
This review is from: Puglia (Travellers) (Paperback)
I'm not the type who likes long travel books - like the lonley planet or rough guide series. I like a book that gets to the point, shows some useful maps or popular towns does a list of top 10s - that's why I love DK's eyewitness series. This book is not very good, you ahve to read it cover to cover before embarking on your trip and planning it out, it's also difficult to use once there, as you are forever going backwards and forwards looking for places and things to do. But there are not many books on the area, and once you get there, not much help in English either. Speaking Spanish helped a little, but not much. the locals generally don't speak English, but that is a large part of the charm. One of my best holidays in Europe, hired a car and visited lots of nice places. Fantastic place, and the Trulli villiage is a great place. Enjoy your holiday. PS, don't fly Ailitalia like me, go with Ryan air, it's quicker & cheaper!
