Good but a bit self indulgent,

This review is from: Go Big or Go Home: Taking Risks in Life, Love, and Tattooing (Kat Von D) (Hardcover)
Kat von D is certainly a big star in America but for the likes of those in other parts of the world it becomes difficult to understand what is so special about this woman.
She is clearly a decent standard tattooer, not the worlds best, but ok. She seems to have stumbled across stardom and then started to believe her own hype.
This book is beautfiully laid out, as are the other two in her triology of books. However, the content is dissapointingly jumpy in context and it's difficult to keep abreast of a time scale. There are interludes of Kat's thought on things such as, creativity, love etc but these seem like they are taken from lectures of other people and not neccesarily her own words or thoughts. There are also random snippets of love stories throughout the book but they are so vague that it's like reading a 14 year olds diary that knows that her parents will no doubt read it.
All in all, this is a nice coffee table book as it took me just over an hour to read it from cover to cover. I much preferred The tattoo chronicles as that seemed to be a more well rounded read with a better understanding of the real lady herself, not some strange self help type jargon that this book constantly waffles on about. Worth a read but I would borrow it from someone else, not spend your cash on it.
