Return of the Krokus five,

This review is from: Hoodoo (Audio CD)
Krokus are a bit like marmite but they have never fail to produce good time Rock n' Roll bordering somewhere between Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Its great to see the five members from their early eighties heyday back together; remember classics like Metal Rondezvous, Hardware, One Vice at a Time and Headhunter! This album has an excellent selection of dirty, greasy Rock sung superbly by Marc Storace with his powerful bluesy voice; alright so some of his songs occasionally may sound 'more Bon than Bon' but Airbourne are being revered by being AC/DC wannabes. I would of loved to have given this album five stars however Krokus have a obsession of covering a well-known song on most of their albums which personally doesn't do anything for me and I felt wanting at least a couple of more tracks after listening to only ten originals. There is also strong competition from their last album Hellraiser, (2006), also an excellent album, (with 14 tracks and no covers!). So is it better than Black Ice? Definitely, Black Ice was an okay album but Hoodoo has a bit more complexity and variation to its sound. One last point; why the massive price tag for a new release? Much cheaper on Marketplace.
