Overly long and stilted,

This review is from: The Templar Agenda (Kindle Edition)
I find it very hard to critique a novel by a first time author.
The novel is very long and much of the dialogue and descriptive text seems incredibly stilted. There is far too much description of clothing, too much 'making eye contact' or 'not making eye contact' and the way that the characters exhibit emotion is neither consistent nor credible.
It became obvious early on that the author had carried out a lot of research or had a lot of knowledge both about the Templars and the banking system. However, there was simply too much of this, especially the banking system for my poor brain.
I don't believe that the author has had enough critical support from friends or editors. The book could really do with a lot of paring down and tightening up!
I am sorry to be so critical on a first novel but there was not much that I liked either in the characters, plot or writing.
Ending on a positive I did like the afterword where the author described the background behind the book. His writing style for this was fine and interesting.
