4.0 out of 5 stars Dont buy the UK version it is CUTTTTTTTT!!!!, 2 Mar 2008
This review is from: Death Proof (Two-Disc Edition) [DVD] (DVD)
Firstly let me point out before I get into this, do not buy the UK versions of the Grindhouse double features, due to varied laws they will be cut to ribbons, my advice is buy a region free DVD player and buy the REgion 1 versions! They will be the extended versions (example: check out the running times of the UK extended cut of Ghost Rider to the UK extended cut of the same film and note the minutes are somewhat more in the US version!) Death Proof is a great film I enjoyed everything about it from the sassy dialogue to the "well worth it" build of of the semi climax right up until the ultra speed climax! Fan of Quintin or not this movie is smartly written and sinister in all the right places, as terrifying as such a movie can be involving a psycho and his weapon...his car! If you are expecting a blood soaked every minute thing you wont find it and if you love The Fast and the Furious you will likely love the 19 min chase scene and hate the rest...a typical flash dumb ass car movie this is not, pure grinhouse this is!

According to the BBFC website no cuts were made to either film as they were submitted to the board.

S. Ball says:
The time difference between Region 1 and 2 is rarely due to cuts, it is because of the "PAL speed up". If you'd check other movies that are considerably less likely to cut and compare the Region 1 to 2 DVDs you'll notice there is still a time difference. Further more why assume it is cut based off a time difference alone when you could at least look it up, undoubtedly such a thing would be covered on wikipedia, when cuts from popular movies such as this are documented all the more because it is much less common for movies to be cut in this day and age.

Thanks for that. Didnt make me feel stupid or little in the slightest. I can assume by this that you have seen both the Region 1 and Region 2 version? I came to the conclusion of cuts because I have mates that have actually proved this to me on titles such as Scary Movie (there is no special edition for this one) and many others and it would make sense that Region 2 would cut films as Britain is less tolerant on certain themes. So dont shoot please. Thanks for your input I did find this helpful.

Well this is good I dont feel stupid for buying the Region 2 version. I do stand by my words that Region 1 is better, cheaper and more features and all that. Take the 2 disk version of rob zombies Halloween for example. Thanks I will get my info on the BBFC site in future.
