The forward march of coffee halted,

This review is from: Philips Senseo Twist HD7870/10 POD Coffee System - White/ Green (Kitchen & Home)
I should have listened to the previous reviewers. The Senseo had previously in its own modest way added considerably to the small pleasures of my simple existence. It was easy to use and the coffee was generally very fine. Somehow the mighty Philips have managed to make a machine that is more complicated, looks worse and produces coffee that tastes of chlorine. I have cleaned it out thoroughly numerous times, de-calcified it (quite a painful process in its own right) again and again, and still the output has the tang of a municipal swimming pool. My current plan is to steal my mother-in-law's old model.
By the way, don't bother calling the "helpline". In trying to establish some form of rapport with the impudent cretin at the other end I mentioned that the machines were popular in Holland and Germany. Ah that's it, he said, they must like their coffee to taste of chlorine.
So where will the old Dutch masters at Philips go next? Will they un-invent the compact disc and replace it with Betamax? We await developments.

Philips Consumer Care says:
We are disappointed to hear that your Senseo Twist has an unusual taste despite thoroughly flushing and descaling the machine. The cleaning process you have used should resolve any unusual taste that the machine may have, so we would like to help you further. If you could please get in contact with us so we can assist you: PhilipsSocialMedia.UK@philips.com. We look forward to hearing from you, thank you.

Hahaha, thanks for the entertaining comment. I expect stealing your mother-in-laws old model might be a tad difficult as she will have chained herself to this little gadget by now. I think I'll get the Senseo Viva Café 7825 instead. Read a lot of good reviews about it both here and on the German Amazon and hardly any bad ones. Of course that won't help you - unless you plan to return this one...
