Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Excellent book following the lives of the extended Cazalet family from June 1956 to December 1958.Starting with the death of the matriarch, Duchy, through to the bankruptcy of the family firm.
All the characters are well drawn and you feel that you are there with them.
This is a big book of some 573 pages and one that I just could not put down, It explores marriages, bitter divorces, homosexuality, forbidden affairs and relations between the moneyed family and the servants and the workmen.
I have not read the earlier four books in the series nor have I seen the TV programmes, but I will definitely be getting the earlier books as soon as possible. My only complaint is that this is the last in the series, Please I want to know what happens to the family after 1958.

Reading through the reviews of this book, much anticipated by me, I now feel annoyed that this reviewer has revealed that the book ends with the bankruptcy of the family firm. Please don't give away such important parts of the plot.
