A timely new edition,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Complete Poems and Fragments: Volumes I & II: 1-2 (Paperback)
The Complete Poems and Fragments has been out of print for some time now, only available from a few, usually university, libraries or at exorbitant prices on the net. It is, therefore, for me at least, a delight to be able to buy this at such an astonishingly low price.
The new edition retains the slipcase and is a high quality product, beautifully printed. The separation into different volumes of the finished mature poems from the manuscript drafts showing the amendments Owen made enables the reader to chart the changes against the final versions. The drafts and the corrections are admirably clear and almost always show, in the great war poetry, the stripping away of the Keatsian effects the less mature Owen so admired. Not everything is good in the work, but those seriously interested in Owen and war poetry in general, a number almost bound to be increased as we approach the centenary of the conflict, can see the hard work which went into the transformation of a sub-Keatsian versifier into a poet of very real significance.
Incidentally, the listing suggests these volumes are paperbacks: just to be absolutely clear, they aren't!

Good review. They are gorgeous books aren't they?
As you say, they're hardbacks. The page count is also way out. I've submitted a product description to Amazon, so the description should be corrected soon.

They've corrected the page count and added 'box set' to the description. That makes two out of three so far.
