Brass hose end connector,
This review is from: Silverline 196506 Auto Stop Quick Connector (DIY & Tools)As far as I can see there are several different makes of this brass hose end connector looking very much the same but varying in price. I didn't have time to research them as I was trying to water my garden when the plastic Hoselock one broke and came adrift from the sprinkler. It wouldn't stay connected on account of the locking mechanism failing.
On a visit to B & Q I purchased a brass one very much like this without autoshut off for £3.75 and no postage costs. The first thing I found was the barrel for the hose pipe was indeed short as other reviewers mentioned, also the collar wouldn't take my hose as it was too thick (good quality hose and long lasting).
However the hose stayed connected without the lock nut and I was intending using a jubilee clip to secure it later until I found in my spares box a joiner to connect my pipe to a bit of Hoselock type pipe that would then connect to the brass fitting.
While I have used it for only one day the quality looks good but no doubt will depend on the ability of the springs to keep the locking mechanism secure to the water sprinkler. Time will tell unless of course we get some wet weather in future years and I don't need to use it. I assume we are due for a wet summer soon as the Spring and Summer totals for the last two years have been about 25% less than average.
It's unfair to give it any stars as I haven't used this make and the one I am using I have only had for one day. However brass feels better than plastic so I am (with tongue in cheek) giving it four stars.
