An enjoyable romp,
This review is from: A Night Like This: Number 2 in series (Smythe-Smith Quartet) (Paperback)
All book reviews are subjective, and I thoroughly enjoyed this Regency romp. The two main characters, Anne and Daniel, are well drawn and likeable, and there is a whole host of other wonderful charatcers who help bring the story to life.
Anne's desperation to hold on to her position as governess battles with her growing feelings for Daniel, and what brought her to be working in such a position is gradually revealed and then threatens everything. I cared about what happened to her and to Daniel, who makes a wonderful hero.
The story kept me gripped, and there were several laugh out loud moments which are a wonderful element to Julia's books. I enjoyed this book, and personally felt that it was a return to Julia being at her best. I look forward to the next novel in the Smythe-Smith quartet.
