Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have wanted a camera that does what the Foscam does for years. I have never been able to understand why there are not more devices like this on the market but full marks to the company that makes these for filling a very obvious hole in the market.

The camera works really well. The set-up is relatively easy and the web interface is great, although it works best with IE. It even works with an app on my Android phone.

Just a couple of wishes for any future developments of this camera are:

Higher resolution than the 640x480
A zoom lens
Ability to save moving images via ftp.

I bought the white version of the camera because at the time it was £[] cheaper on amazon than the black one. It does reflect rather badly if set up to look through a window but I reckon it would be easy enough to paint it black if it was a real problem.

So are you saying that this camera does not support saving/streaming the video to a remote location via FTP?

In other words, does it just save the footage locally so then the footage can get stolen as well?

TerryB says:
Video can be recorded remotely using http Dan but only to a computer that is turned on and connected to the camera web server.

Still images can be scheduled for transfer via ftp but not moving images. As I have a network connected drive that is always on, I just think it would be good to be able to transfer moving images to it using ftp also.

David says:
Is the reflection in the window not due to the infra red emitters illuminating the glass?
Infra red doesn't pass through glass.
